Featured Project

Uplifting the Lakota voice through film and first-person storytelling

Global Peace Train is working with Dave Swallow, a Lakota Medicine Man on Pine Ridge Reservation, to produce a series of 3 films. Each film blends modern stories with ancient Lakota wisdom and spirituality. The goal of this body of work is to raise awareness for the people and help preserve the precious Lakota teachings before they are lost.

There are so many causes to support that we couldn’t choose just one. Since 2009 we have helped support over 14 communities in 9 different countries. In order to help tell these stories we’ve created detailed case studies that highlight each of these communities and the overall impact of our efforts.

From 2011-2016, we sold dozens of quilts on the site and facilitated the sale of 120 traditional star quilts from the Lakota of Pine Ridge Reservation to the Fort Mackay First Nations in Canada to honor their elders.
